Repairs And Relines
Repairs
Dentures are made of a very strong acrylic material, but sometimes accidents do happen where you'll need your dentures repaired. At sturgeon, we are able to assess any repair that you may need and be able to evaluate if we are able to do a repair. If you are wanting your denture to be repaired, do NOT attempt to glue it back together or repair it. Our clinic is able to return repairs within a day if your denture is brought in before noon.
Hard Relines
Just as you would change your oil in a car after a certain mileage, complete dentures should be maintained by relining (replacing) the fitting surface of your teeth. Our Denturists recommend a reline when the denture is no longer staying in place well or after 1 - 2 years.
The exception to this is for Immediate Denture Patients who will undergo rapid healing and therefore drastic changes in the mouth and may need more relines throughout their first couple years of wearing a denture.
Soft Relines
We also offer Soft Relines to patients who have very thin gum tissue in their mouths and have had issues with hard denture bases in the past. These relines are more expensive, but offer patients with fragile gums a softer material in their mouth so they are able to function. Our clinic recommends patients who have soft relines to have their dentures relined once every two years as the material is more porous and is able to hold onto bacteria and other debris better than hard acrylic.
Temporary Liners (Immediate Patients)
Immediate denture patients will undergo a series of temporary liners as they heal over their first year. Our clinic includes the price of the first two temporary liners in the immediate denture pricing, but patients are able to receive more 'tempos', as they need them. When A temporary liner is no longer fitted, it is a good sign. This is a good indication that you have healed up to a point that the fitted surface of your denture needs a new liner. After approximately a year of temporary liners, our immediate denture patient is able to have their denture relined to have a hard acrylic base.
